Support Request: Auto Start errors

Description

Writing the automatic logon setting to the registry failed. If you are operating under Windows NT, please make sure that Sitekiosk can access the key HKEY_LOCAL_Machine.

On reboot I get: The ProfSvc service failed the sign-in. User Profile cannot be loaded.

Your first error message indicates that the user you are logged in as does not have permission to write to the registry and SiteKiosk was blocked from writing some or all of the registry settings necessary for Autostart mode. The user account under which you activate the auto start mode of SiteKiosk needs to have administrative rights. What is your operating system? Please also confirm the version and build number of SiteKiosk that you see at the top of the SiteKiosk configuration editor near the save buttons. What other software is installed on the system? As a first step make sure to log in with an Admin user and temporarily disable your antivirus and try it again. If you are on a domain you could try this off of the domain under a local admin instead as a test.

The second error indicates the user profile is missing or corrupted. Did you use the standard Autostart mode with the green Autostart button from the SiteKiosk quick start menu to go into Autostart mode? Are you still able to login to Windows as your admin user or are you stuck at this screen?

What is your operating system? Windows 11 Pro

Please also confirm the version and build number of SiteKiosk that you see at the top of the SiteKiosk configuration editor near the save buttons. 9.9 Build 6466

What other software is installed on the system? None

As a first step make sure to log in with an Admin user and temporarily disable your antivirus and try it again. I will try this. Only Using Window defender.

If you are on a domain you could try this off of the domain under a local admin instead as a test. No Domain

The second error indicates the user profile is missing or corrupted. Did you use the standard Autostart mode with the green Autostart button from the SiteKiosk quick start menu to go into Autostart mode? Yes

Are you still able to login to Windows as your admin user or are you stuck at this screen? I have to use the keyboard unlock key sequence to be able to type the password.

We have not been able to replicate the issue with a fully updated Windows 11 system and SiteKiosk 9.9.6466. There must be something else going on since a local admin user will not be blocked from writing these registry settings on a default Windows 11 pro system. Please send a screenshot of the list of installed application from the Windows control panel to sales-america(at)provisio.com. What errors do you see in the Windows event logs (System and Application) after the issue occurs?

After further troubleshooting, the specific cause of the issue could not be determined but completely removing SiteKiosk and starting with a new SiteKiosk configuration file resolved the issue.

Completely remove SiteKiosk:
>Control Panel >Applications >SiteKiosk >Remove >Automatically remove call created data >Reboot
