Support Request: unable to open tif files in sitekiosk

Description

Hello,
I'm unable to open tif files in sitekiosk secured mode but I can in the sitekiosk user.
I have made sure the default program in Windows10 for all .tif and .tiff files are set to open in "Windows Photo Viewer". But I'm getting error attached. Please advise.
Thanks,
Bertrand

If you are referring to the "Photos" app on Windows 10 that is a modern UI App (Windows 8/Windows 10 App) and it cannot work with SiteKiosk. You need to use a classic EXE/COM Application for this. Are you using Chrome or IE as your browser option in SiteKiosk?

Also the file type extension needs to be added to the "Config.xml" at "C:\Program Files (x86)\SiteKiosk\Skins\Public\Media\FileManager\XML".
e.g. at this line
<extension types="doc,docx,xls,xlsx,ppt,pptx,pps,ppsx,rtf,sxw,odt,dot,dotx,ods,sxc,odp,sxi,ott,stw,otp,sti" useregistry="true" />

Additional information can be found in the documentation at:
3.4 Viewing and executing different file types (.gif, .jpg, .mpg, etc.) Or
3.5 Linking and executing file types using third-party applications https://www.provisio.com/helpconsole/SiteKiosk%20Help/en-US/default.htm?file_manager.htm

Hi,
I'm using IE as browser in Sitekiosk. I have updated the "config.xml" file on the c drive as advised above but the tiff is downloaded then previewed in File Manager instead of showing the whole file content. I have set .tif and .tiff to open with Microsoft Photo Viewer.
I'll continue to work on this and keep you posted.

Thanks,
B

What did you set the default viewer for that file type to in Windows? It will need to be an application with an exe file. You should also add that application to the list of applications so it will be closed along with wioth other windows when the user logs out. When you add that extension to the list of extensions in the config.xml file, it should try to open the file with the default viewer on the Windows system assuming that is a classic Windows application. When you double-click the file nothing happens?

All set. I found a work around by installing IE browser plug-ins to open tiff files.
This ticket can be closed.

Thanks for all your input on this.
